Reasons To Lose Baby Weight

Many new mothers are actively  seeking ways to lose baby weight, but many don't consider that there are reasons to lose baby weight beyond simply wanting to look better. 

The most important reason to lose baby weight is for your own health.  Excess weight above your recommended body composition can lead to a wide array of adverse health effects.  Diabetes, heart disease, and strokes are just a few of the many problems that have been associated with being overweight.  Add this to the pressure your body has already been feeling for nine months, and the effects could be compounded.  It is important to take immediate and proactive measures to ensure that you stay as healthy as you can, because now you have more than your own life to worry about.

Another reason to lose weight after having a baby is that you already have enough stress to worry about.  There is no reason to add to that stress with a poor body-image or the physical stresses that come with excess body fat.  Additionally, exercise is not only a great way to lose fat, it is also an excellent way to combat stress.  Exercising for even a few minutes every day will help to lift your mood and provide you with the energy you need to care for the new member of your family.

Even if your own health is not on your mind, then the health of your baby should be.  Bad health choices made by a new mother can be transferred to the baby.  If you are eating unhealthy food, then the food that you are giving to your baby is also less likely to be useful for maximum health.  As your baby grows up, it is also imperative that you set a good example for healthful practices, because your child will learn their health-habits from you.  Losing the baby weight is a good way to express that health will be a major part of your life and your baby's life.

Exercising to lose baby weight is also a great way to get what every new mother wants most - more quality time with their baby.  Try out a jogging stroller to take your baby on your runs with you.  Or, purchase a backpack that will allow you to take your child on hikes or walks around your town.  Even just actively playing with your child is a good way to bond with your newest family member and lose fat at the same time.
